Health Benefits of Cinnamon and Honey

Cinnamon is one ingredient I love to use when baking and honey is always a favorite with bread.  So you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was when I read an article about the health benefits of cinnamon and honey combined!

According to studies, honey is the only food that does not spoil or rot.  Just a word of caution, though, it is not good to put honey in the fridge or boil it.  By doing so, you will take away the enzymes present in the honey that would be beneficial to one’s health. It is also important to note that too much of honey could be harmful, but having just the right amount could do wonders healthwise.

But just before you grab any kind of cinnamon from the grocery racks, make sure your cinnamon is organic.  According to the Chinese, these kinds of cinnamon is very useful in nourishing the kidneys.

So here are the health benefits of the cinnamon+honey combo:

1. Helps strengthen the immune system.  Honey and cinnamon builds up the body’s immune system and protects it from viral and bacteria attacks.  The vitamins and large percentage of iron in honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles and are responsible for this very important health benefit.

2. Reduces cholesterol level.  Reducing the cholesterol level for many could be quite a challenge.  Medication is expensive and the risks of getting heart diseases is very high.  Good news, the honey+cholesterol combo just might be a very helpful solution to this disease.  Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours.

3. Reduces the risk of heart diseases.  By simply making a paste of honey and cinnamon and applying it on bread instead of jelly or jam, you could actually reduce the risks of heart diseases. Now that is really not hard to do, because honey and cinnamon really taste good together!  Well, what do you know? A yummy breakfast like that could actually do wonders for those who have heart diseases.

According to Weekly World News, a Medical magazine in Canada has the following diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon:  arthritis, bladder infections, colds, upset stomach, gas and influenza-flu.  For those who have problems with pimples, overweight, bad breath and hearing loss, the honey+cinnamon combo just might be what you need.  It also proven to enhance longevity, reduces the risks of any types of cancer and skin infections.

Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

Very informative post, Ray. I just learned from your post that honey should not be placed on the fridge. I remember that when we were kids, we placed the honey inside the fridge because we wanted to taste it cold. That means we have lost some health benefits from it, after all. Thanks for the info.
