Five Of The Most Expensive Restaurants In The World

Most people appreciate the occasional meal in a fancy restaurant, and dining in a Michelin Star restaurant is something that everyone should try at least once. These restaurants take fine dining to a whole new level, however, offering a dining experience that goes beyond “premium” or “luxury”, and position themselves squarely as once-in-a-lifetime dining experiences reserved for superstars and millionaires only. Let’s take a look at some of the most expensive dining opportunities in the world.

1. The White Truffle and Gold Pizza at Margo’s ($2,420)

According to the menu at Margo’s, Malta, which sells this premium pizza, the dish is “Not just a pizza”, apparently it is “a sign from God telling us how great She is”. The restaurant asks for one week’s notice to prepare the pizza, and it is only available between October and May, which is truffle season. The truffles for the pizza are flown in specially from Piemonte, and the exact price of the pizza will depend on the price of the truffles. In addition to fresh truffles, the pizza is topped with 24K gold leaf, and organic water buffalo mozzarella.

2. The $100 Cheesesteak From Barclay Prime

Barclay Prime in Philadelphia does its own special variant of the Philly Cheesesteak, except instead of a traditional baguette with some cheese, steak and sauce in it, their version is made with wage ribeye and foie gras, and topped with truffled, home-made fontina cheese. The bread isn’t just any white baguette either, but a sesame roll. Instead of a coffee or a soda, you’ll get this tasty dish served with a glass of Dom Perignon 2000. Traditional fast-food cheesesteaks are a must-eat dish when you’re in Philadelphia, and all things considered, $100 is pretty affordable for a premium dining experience.

3. Seafood at Masa, New York ($600)

A meal at the Masa in New York will cost about $600, but for that price you get to enjoy five different appetizers, a shushi entree which includes more than 15 different kinds of seafood, and a dessert. The food is prepared by renowned sushi chef Masa Takayam, and the ingredients are all flown in fresh from Japan. If you care about things like food miles this is an environmental nightmare, but if you want an authentic Japanese dining experience in the USA, you can’t beat a visit to Masa.

4. The FleurBurger 5000 at Fleur ($5000)

Las Vegas is known for its decadence, so it makes sense that it would be the home of the five thousand dollar burger. This burger is the creation of Hubert Keller, and is served at his Fleur restaurant. The burger was created because Keller noticed that one of his competitors sold a $100 burger, and he decided that he wanted to make something even more luxurious. The FleurBurger is made of Kobe beef, truffles and foie gras, and is served on a brioche truffle bun. It is served with a bottle of Chateau Petrus 1995, and for ordering the burger you will have two crystal stemware glasses delivered to your home.

5. Strawberries at Arnaud’s ($3,950,000)

Arnaud’s is well known for serving premium meals. It rose to fame for offering a $1.4 million dollar dessert, but now the New Orleans based restaurant has decided to up its game, by selling a strawberry dish for $3.95 million. The dish is quite simple – strawberries marinaded in port, red wine, citrus and spices, with a dash of vanilla ice cream. What makes the dish so expensive is that it also comes with a 7.09 carat pink diamond ring, as part a “proposal package”. Nothing says I love you like a four million dollar meal!
